Northal is an independent web design practice on the edge of the North York Moors. One person designs, writes and builds every site, so you always deal with the person doing the work, never a middleman.

Designer and developer based in North Yorkshire. Self-taught, technically curious, interested in the small decisions that separate a website you trust from one you don’t. Graduating from the University of York in 2026 with a first-class honours in Criminology, and studying cybersecurity, which is where the security-minded way I build comes from.
Started building websites in WordPress in 2023 as a hobby, moved to Webflow, then Next.js, picking up design and code along the way. What began as a side project turned into a studio in 2025.
This started as a way to fill a summer. First-year, home for the break, poking around in WordPress and Figma because it beat doing nothing. It never really stopped: Webflow next, then a proper stack, each move because the last one couldn’t do what I wanted anymore. The cybersecurity study ran alongside all of it, and shaped how everything since has been built: nothing left open that doesn’t need to be. What was a hobby is starting to look like something worth doing properly.

Northal is Seth Brigginshaw, a designer and developer working from Northallerton, North Yorkshire. Every project is shaped, written, designed and built by the same person, from the first call to the day it goes live.
That’s the whole point. The person who designs your site also builds it, so nothing gets lost in a handover, and nothing gets added to your invoice for managing one. You talk to the person doing the work, and the site that ships is the one you were promised.
Keeping the studio to one person is a deliberate choice, not a limitation. It means a small number of projects at a time, each with genuine, senior attention. Whatever you’re building, there’s a good first conversation in it, and it never feels like a pitch.

I take on a handful of jobs at a time, not a conveyor belt, which keeps replies quick and the timeline honest about what’s actually possible.
Designed and built.
No handover between a designer and a developer. The person who draws the site writes the code, so what you sign off is what ships.
Copy written where it lives.
Words are written alongside the layout they belong to, not poured in afterwards. No lorem ipsum, no filler.
Plain over flashy.
Bold type, one accent, not much decoration. The content should carry the page before any animation does.
