Proof

What building it properly is worth.

Same kind of business, built like software instead of stacked plugins. Before is the median of 10 real North Yorkshire trade sites, measured on a phone. After is this very site.

99/100Speed scorehow fast Google rates it on a phone, out of 100The typical trade site round here scores 59.
  • 4.2s1.2sTime to first thing on screenhow long a visitor stares at nothing
  • 2.9 MB542 KBData to loadwhat a phone downloads to open the page
  • 7 scripts1 scriptOutside scriptsthird-party code that quietly slows a page

These aren’t numbers to brag about. On a phone, they decide whether the person searching for you waits for your page, or taps back to whoever loaded first, before they’ve seen a thing you make.

No mystery to it. Five steps from the first call to a live site, and here's exactly what each one is.

  1. ListenNo obligationA conversation, a walk, the brief. One hour, no obligation.
  2. ShapeStrategy, voice, sitemap, first directions. Fewer options, better considered.
  3. MakeDesign + build in lockstep. Weekly reviews. Copy written where it lives.
  4. ShipClean handover, training, launch plan. Indexed, monitored, ready.
  5. TendCare includedA month of post-launch care included. Small fixes, first metrics, then a clean exit or an ongoing care plan.
Before you ask

Common questions.

We're known locally for being reliable and well-connected, does our website actually need to reflect that?

It's usually the first thing that either confirms or contradicts that reputation for someone who hasn't dealt with you before, so yes, it's worth getting right.

How much does a project cost?

Each service shows a guide “from” price, so you can see roughly where things start before you get in touch: a website from £1,500, brand identity from £1,200, a web app from £5,000. Those are starting points, not a package price — where your project lands depends on how many pages, whether it needs logins or a shop, and how much of the writing and design is on me. The exact figure comes after the first call, once I know what the work involves. That call is free, with no obligation, and you'll get one fixed quote before anything starts, not a meter that runs.

How long does a project take?

Anywhere from one week for a starter site up to twelve for a full web app. You'll get an exact timeline before anything begins, not an estimate that slips.

Can I edit the site myself once it's live?

A web design & build project ships with a CMS: log in, change the words and images, no developer needed for day-to-day updates. A one-page starter site doesn't have one, because it doesn't need an admin panel to change a phone number. Send the change to me instead, and it's covered while your care month or care plan is running.

What if I need changes after launch?

Small tweaks are covered under a Care plan. Anything structural gets quoted first, so nothing shows up on an invoice you didn't see coming.

Question not covered? Ask me directly, no obligation.

On the ground in Darlington

Why it matters here.

Who it’s for

A logistics, engineering or public-sector-adjacent business needing a site as fast and dependable as the infrastructure it sits next to.

Darlington's identity has always been about what passes through it rather than what happens inside it, road, rail, and now data, all converging on one town by geographic accident that turned into genuine economic advantage.

A place that's built its whole reputation on connectivity is not a forgiving audience for a slow website. That's close to a literal expectation rather than a metaphor: businesses here already think in terms of throughput, and a site that doesn't move quickly is working against the town's own instincts.

Businesses trading on that reputation for connectivity are held to a genuinely higher standard when it comes to their own digital presence, and meeting it properly is a real point of credibility here, not just good practice. A fast, dependable website is the natural extension of a town that's built its whole identity around things moving efficiently.
